"This Best Selling Fisher-Price Medical Kit Tends to SELL OUT VERY FAST! If this is a MUST HAVE product, be sure to Order Now to avoid disappointment!"
Kids can learn how to nurture through pretend play with this doctor's bag. The bright colors are sure to appeal to preschoolers. With a real working stethoscope, little ones can really hear their beating heart. Includes stethoscope, blood pressure cuff with "working" pump, odoscope, thermometer, syringe, bandage play piece and softgoods bag.
I bought this kit for my toddler after reading reviews of other similar kits not made by Fisher-Price. I was mostly swayed by the brand and the “working stethoscope” promise. The kit is well-made and durable, with no sharp plastic edges or anything that looks like it could come off and become a choking hazard. The stethoscope does conduct sound, however you really need to press it to someone’s chest to hear the heartbeat faintly. I will get a real stethoscope somewhere at a pharmacy to supplement this. Otherwise, all the other tools are fun to use and educational. For anyone considering a start up doctor kit, I recommend buying from a trusted brand so you know the items are of good quality with no unfinished seams/edges or the like.
I bought this for my 3 1/2 year old for Christmas and it’s great! When I use the blood pressure cuff, I gently squeeze his arm around the cuff so he understands how blood pressure is taken. This came in handy since he was rushed to ER last week with a bougt of croup! He’d never had his blood pressure taken before and I was able to explain that it was just like in his doctor kit. I think this is a great way to get kids comfortable with these tools so they don’t fear the doctor.
My 1 yr old and 3 yr old LOVE it! They are constantly taking our temperatures and giving us shots. And my 3 yr old always brings me the band aid if she thinks I’m hurt. It’s my understanding that the blood pressure cuff is intentionally big/loose… i.e. there is less risk of kids getting hurt with a loose cuff vs. a tight fitting one. As for the complaints about the stethoscope…I’ve put it on and it’s really not bad. Neither of my kids have complained about any kind of discomfort. As for it not working well…come on people- IT’S A TOY! It works well enough for good child play time and that’s all it needs to do. If you want something more functional- get something “cheap” at a medical supply store.
The little bag is thin nylon type material and holds everything that comes in the set and it velcros shut for easy storage. The set comes with a little stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, shot, band aid, ear scope, and thermometer. All of the pieces are durable plastic and easy to wipe down. Overall, it’s a great set and will offer hours of doctoring fun for any toddler! You can get it cheaper from Walmart (about $14) with free shipping if you use site to store.
My daughter has wanted a doctor set since she started watching Doc McStuffins on TV. She picked this set out while we were cruising Amazon looking for birthday presents. This just might be her favorite toy from her birthday. Everything is exactly what we expected, and looks like it will be huge fun for her and her little sister for years. They are 5 (birthday girl) and 2 so they have years of imaginative fun to look forward to and anything I can get that will last years instead of days is a plus.
This is a wonderful pretend play toy; my three year old loves it! I love that all the pieces EASILY fit into a bag, so she can clean up after herself. However, as has been noted, the stethascope doesn’t work that well. It magnifies sound, but it can be hard to actually hear a heartbeat.
I’m a little embarrassed to post this, but people need to know that this kit does not come with a doctor’s coat. Without paying a whole lot of attention, and from looking at the picture posted with the item, I mistakenly expected to receive a coat as well and didn’t. Not a problem; the kit is good–especially for the price–and my daughter loves it. The pieces are the right size and seem, on initial glance, to be sturdy enough to survive a 3 yr old. They also all fit well inside the tote bag that comes with them. People have complained about the stethoscope, but she already has a functional stethoscope and hasn’t paid much attention to this one, so I can’t comment on that.
Hopefully, though, this will keep someone else from feeling foolish.
We bought this toy for my 3 year old daughter about a year ago when she started really liking the show Doc McStuffins on the Disney Channel. It has probably been one of the toys she has used most often throughout the last year. When people come over she’ll take out her doctor kit to give them a check up. She also loves to use it with her dolls. I love the bag because it makes it a lot easier for her to clean up. She has a little bit of a hard time with the blood pressure cuff because she can’t get it on herself, but she doesn’t have a problem with any of the other toys. The toys are all very durable and have shown no wear with constant use. The bag seems like it would be flimsy but has held up really well over the continued use. I think this is a toy that my daughter will continue using for a long time.
